Puppy/Kitten Care Follow Up

If you recently welcomed a litter into your house we offer exams that come with certificates to keep track of each individual puppy or kitten. During their first few visits we will:

  • Weigh the puppy or kitten
  • Listen to heart and lungs with a stethoscope
  • Take their temperature if indicated (note: pet temperatures are taken rectally)
  • Examine eyes, ears, nose, feet, and genitalia
  • Examine skin and coat
  • Look at teeth and mouth
  • Palpate abdomen and lymph nodes
  • Examine feces (bring a sample) for the presence of intestinal parasites (most pups have roundworms)
  • Discuss the puppy’s history and any questions you might have about feeding, medical issues, such as worming medications, and future care, such as microchipping, vaccinating, and spaying and neutering

If these precious bundles find new homes they will each have their own paperwork so the new owner will be well informed of their history and know what to do next.
