Microchips

A microchip is a small device implanted beneath your pet’s skin, a little bigger than a grain of rice. It contains information which can be read by a hand-held scanner available at almost all shelters and veterinary clinics.

Microchip identification can help ensure that your puppy or kitten can find his or her way home if he or she is ever lost. Meadow Hill Veterinary Shoppe
offers Home Again microchip identification and registration. While microchips can be implanted anytime and do not require anesthesia, we
often perform the service at the same time as the spay or neuter procedure.

If your pet is found and taken to a veterinarian or local shelter, they will be scanned for a microchip.
The information on the microchip will provide the facility with your contact information, and you will be reunited with your pet.
